Yes, everywhere where is hostels there is people doing this volunteering thing. It’s good way of traveling when you don’t have a lot of money. 🙂

In other places I have been volunteering they have kept telling me to always ask help if I have language problems with the guest or need any help. I would have asked help from anyone else in that situation but I was the only one working at that time in the hostel so the boss was only option. In hostels the boss usually works along side the other workers so its easy to ask help from them. 🙂 But in that situation I was quite unlucky and the boss didn’t like me disturbing her working 😀

Very interesting. So people do this “volunteering” all over the world? I might need some enlightenment a little bit more about “volunteering”. To be fair, I was surprised that you approached your boss for the problem. 🙂 But it seems like that was your, may not be prudent, but most viable option for you.

You should definitely do it! Working in hostel has been one of my best experiences. Just be careful with the deciding where you are going to work. 🙂

This post is really really helpful. I was looking at going through “worldpackers”… So hopefully I can remember your advice, because I feel like this is such a great option and way to experience the world!
