30 Before 30

As person who loves writing lists I did one to calm myself down. Let me introduce you 30 trips/things I want to do before turning 30. I have nine years left so hopefully enough time to do them all. I was going to put out my Sweden travel diary today but I have been too stressed out. (University exam results can come out at any moment.) I hope you enjoy this random travel list!

1.Return to Japan

If you have read more of my blog you know I went  to Japan for three months last year. I left part of my lost soul there and that’s why I should return. Just kidding. I felt like in home when in Kyoto and want to experience that again. Japan has so much more to offer and see for me.

2. Go to Caribbean cruise

3. Volunteer and help animals

I don’t know if I have mentioned this before but I have training as animal career. I wouldn’t do animal careering as job but am passionate about helping animals. As extra to that exotic country and new culture would be great.

4. Go to USA

5. Start Youtube channel

Wanna hear secret? Writing has always been my dream but making videos isn’t far behind from that. In fact I made promise for myself that if my blog ever gets thousand followers I will make this dream true. Well I did that promise when I though no one would read my writings… Now I have over 200 followers and the count is rising threateningly. (BTW welcome to all new followers!)

6. Interrail/around Europe trip

7. Road trip around Finland

Who wouldn’t like to drive around their home country?

8. Working Holiday in Australia or New Zealand

9. Long time travel with friends or family

I’m solo traveler by heart but being with friends and family is always something I hope to do as much as possible.

10. Inspire someone to travel

11. Extempore travel

Decide to go and leave without second thoughts. No planning, no time to stress, just buy the tickets and adventure.

12. Go to South Korea

13. Do guest post on someone’s blog

If someone ever finds me good enough writer to invite me to do guest blog post. It may take time but I have more than enough before 30.

14. Learn new language

German or Korean?

15. Befriend fellow traveler

And travel with them to place both of you haven’t been before

16. Couchsurfing

17. See pyramids

No need to do this before 30 but before this heritage disappears.

18. Backpack in Asia

19. Go to somewhere abandoned

Done this already but second time would be nice.

20. Keep blogging about your travels

I have history of starting blogs and ending them before the first year is over. This time I want to keep writing until the end of my life.

21. Travel to another country to see band

What other reason would you need to travel than to see your favorite band?

22. Live in hostels

23. Visit Star Wars film locations

The way to show of my inner nerd. I may or may not state Star Wars movies as my favorite ones. And the locations are cool even if you haven’t seen the films. So this is win-win situation for me.

24. Visit Venice

25. Do Pilgrim or long hike

26. Earn money by writing to travel

Even better if the earning is by writing my own book. However any writing (blog, freelancer, etc.) is okay. Use that money to travel.

27. Learn to dive

This is probably the one I will not get done. I am scared of deep waters but love the colors under sea. (But it’s hard to come up with 30 ideas so I can try to do this.)

28. Write a book

29. Fly in the business class

30. Find Happiness

Learn to be happy. I care too much about others’ opinions. Live my life for myself and find the way I want to spend the rest of it.

(If you liked my list, share this image in Pinterest!)

So do you have some traveling destinations you want to visit or experience before certain age? I have had this “years are running too fast” -crisis lately because the uncertain future. And so I am back to my question… What to do with my life?

Oh and I almost forget that the Sweden diary will be out at Sunday. It’s almost ready but I should pick out some photos, write about the last day and proofread it. And if you want to know how it goes with my university thing I will tell the results right away in my personal blog. Sorry about this random post and see you (hopefully?) at Sunday!

With Love,

The Dilemma of Free Flights…

Couple of days ago I checked out how much Finnair points I have and almost fainted. Apparently I have flown more than I would have ever guessed. My points are enough to get round-trip tickets to any European country or Dubai! Now there is one big question left…

Where should I travel?

As cheap person I have to travel somewhere usually expensive. It’s hard to decide so below I have listed some of my options. Where should I go?

Dubai

Dubai sounds like dream but my mum said straight away she hopes I don’t go there alone. -My sister said how cool would it be to visit Dubai and I agree with her…- So should I listen my mum or take the “risk” and go. What I read about blogs, Dubai isn’t as dangerous and scary as it’s in our heads. So solo travel to Dubai… Dream or reality?

Dubai isn’t on my bucket list but that’s mainly because it seems so far away and too fancy for me. I didn’t know a lot about it before doing some research today. It’s quite expensive (or did I understand wrongly?) but I have got used to expensive in Finland…

Barcelona

I have visited charming Barcelona two or three times (I’m bad person and can’t recall which one) and this city has made me feel like home in its small labyrinth alleys. Of course there would be other cities to visit in Spain like the capital Madrid but I just don’t believe those would delight me like Barcelona.

The beaches are calling for me (and the warmth! Because in Finland we only have the cold…) The flights to Barcelona are usually quite cheap and that is the only reason keeping me away from the free flights to Barcelona.

Amsterdam

I’m blaming all the bloggers currently writing about their trips to the Netherlands for adding this one on my list. Photogenic city with a lot of see and do. I would spend time just walking around admiring all the streets and buildings. And the Van Goh museum is place I would love to visit!

London

I have been three times in London but there is so much to see that it would be nice to go again. Last time was a couple of years ago and I didn’t see a lot because we only went to concert. The times before that I was so young (and with my family) so I couldn’t appreciate the city. Now when I have grown up going again would be interesting experience.

Italy

I have never been to Italy but it seems my kind of country. I haven’t decided with city would be best for me. Rome or Venice? I like the culture and architecture of Southern European countries. Many of my friends have visited Italy and everyone comes back with good experience.

Iceland

First time I added Iceland to my bucket list was at primary school when we learned about it in school. (Of course at that time I hadn’t even heard about bucket lists but I knew that was place I wanted to visit at least once in my life time.)

But is there enough things to do if I want to spend longer time? And I don’t know if I want to go there and suffer from the cold.

This is going to be hard decision… There is so many places I would like to visit and choosing just one is impossible. I accept all suggestions and help so where should I visit? Which country would you like to see me writing about in this blog?

With mind full of wanderlust,

Viivi Severina

My Dream Trips

After starting my travel blog I planned to continue traveling a lot but bad luck (or evil spirits) have prevented me. I have been quite sick so leaving my home has been no-no. Fortunately I have a lot of memories, advice, thoughts and pictures to share with you! So don’t worry internet (and my bad luck) nothing can’t defeat me.

Due to my sickness I have spent too much time daydreaming and especially planning my future adventures. Today I would like to share my favorite ones with you… Enjoy!

Working on Cruise Ship

I know this is not glamorous job. It’s hard work and many people are complaining about the pay, working conditions and hours. My aim wouldn’t be to fund my future travels but rather have experience beyond compare.

I want to wake up every morning in different place and spend hours after hours looking to the endless sea. Living without internet and phone. Getting to know interesting people around the world, hear their stories and share some of mine.

Only negative side is how I can get shy about speaking in English so I probably would only be able to work as cleaner. However I liked to clean in hostel so I don’t think the job is a lot different in cruise ship…

Seoul, South Korea

First time I heard about South Korea was ten years ago when I had my first encounter with kpop (Korean pop music). It took quite many years before I got interested about the land and not just their music. After visiting Japan last year and hearing there too many times how I should go to Korea I have been dreaming about visiting there soon.

I just happen to love Korean food so this trip may end in bad way (aka me not fitting in the airplane…) but I am ready to risk it. Of course after spending some time there I may stay forever like almost happened with Japan so fitting in airplane will not be my biggest problem.

Ideally I would like to visit Seoul, Busan and Jeju. Seoul is the capital city forming from many smaller cities. Busan is the second largest city and known for its beaches, nature and harbor. Jeju island is full of tourism and there is wide variety thing to do (for me I want to see the nature and go hiking!)

Working Holiday Australia

Work and holiday together. I think it’s perfect way for me to spend one year! Australia has been on my bucket list since forever. In school we got to know its amazing nature and animals. From TV-series (Dance Academy and some other teen series) I fell in love with the settings, cities and culture.

It’s very expensive to go in Australia and I’m scared of the getting job part but it would be adventure. I’m craving for the excitement and danger right now! I need challenges to live peacefully and this would be right one for me.

It takes a lot of work and planning but I may go next year. Or if not then definitely sometime in future.

Hiking E10

European long distance hiking paths (shortened as E-paths) have interested me for long time. How cool would it be to hike through Europe? I decided E10 trail as the one I would do first because it goes thru whole Finland (my home country). Its lengths is about  2,880 km so this would be a long task to do.

The path starts near Finland’s and European Union’s northernmost place. Then it goes through Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, France and Spain. It would be difficult adventure because parts of the trail (mostly in Finland) aren’t officially known. For example in Finland some info is only found in old literature so I should do detective work before the trip.

I have always loved nature and solitude so this one is on the top of my bucket list.

Family Holiday to Paradise

I don’t have specific destination for this one. Somewhere warm with all-inclusive luxury hotel. Adventure trips for me and my sister, being on poolside for my brother and amazing food for all of us to enjoy together.

We had one this kind of trip to Egypt when I was younger. Everyone had fun time and we experienced many new things like seeing dolphins and eating too much free ice cream. I wouldn’t mind doing that again.

I’m still living with my family but moving away soon. This would be perfect thing to do before that.

Maybe I will share more of my dreams some time (trust me I have millions of them!). So what are your dream travel destinations? Or do you have some good tips for me? I would be happy to hear your opinions.

So see you next time!
