Planning, planning, planning…

Hi there! How are you? Today I’m talking about what is happening currently with me, my blog and of course my travels.

Travel Plans

I will start my summer working and do some cleaning in my relatives’ summer cottage. While there I will take some amazing Finnish cottage pics for you and write new Surviving Finland post about Finns’ secret summer lives.

Like I have mentioned before I have been sick lately and because of that had to forgot my plans to go France in June. However I’m going to Sweden with my family! We will go to cruise from Helsinki, Finland to Stockholm, Sweden in the end of this month.

By the end of summer/autumn I may carry out my France plans. It depends on many things but I hope it will work out. -please cross your fingers for me-

I haven’t yet decided how to use my free flight but fortunately I have almost year left to spend it. Currently Iceland and Dubai are on the top of my list. (I realized that flights to Amsterdam are so cheap that I can make that trip by buying the tickets myself.)

Other trips I am planning to do this year are to Tallinn (cheap to travel by ship) and Gdansk (cheap to fly from Turku, Finland). And from Tallinn maybe by bus to somewhere in Europe.

University… Or Not?

Big part of my planning is still uncertain because of this big question. I did aply to University even if I wasn’t sure if I want to get in. I would like to study the areas I selected but rather than living student life I would travel and see where this life takes me.

The university exam results come out at the end of this month so then I know. The travel will not stop in any case. My new student life would start in Turku where they have good airport and possibilities to travel around the world.

The Photo Problem

Some of you may have noticed that my photos are running short. I haven’t done long posts about my own travels for a couple of weeks. And that’s because my old computer died -RIP the loyal Samsung laptop from 2000’s- and my pictures are somewhere inside it!

Fortunately I have saved them to external memory device but I have kind of lost that thing. So I have been cleaning my room the last week just so I could find that memory device and present posts with pictures for you.

Hopefully I will find it today but don’t worry even without those photos I have new posts planned. (And I’m always happy to hear ideas what would you like to read on my blog!)

This was quite mixed thing of everything but I felt like keeping you up about my plans. Starting from now you can find all my coming travels updated from the upper menu’s My Plans page.

Have you been planning any travels for this summer? Or maybe some ideas for me what should I do in the destinations I’m going to visit?

Hoping to travel already,

Neidotta

  1. Interesting and amazing.
Well, I am also fond of traveling and do it as often as my resources let me.
I have a question though, you mentioned about deciding to take university or not cause it might get stuck in the way of your travels, how do you manage everything? Like I think if I start going around the world I will HAVE TO abandon the work and everything and if I do that, there is no way I can earn enough to be able to travel around the world or at least some places which I intend to.
I will love to get your thoughts and suggestions about it, thanks.

    1. Hello and thank you for this interesting question. I ended up writing so much text that I will now (try to) answer shortly and started to write a real blog post for my blog about this subject. (I will probably publish it on Tuesday). But now to the answer 🙂

      1. Cut down your travel expenses. There are websites/places offering free accommodation if you work a couple of hours a day. Find good deals and use your imagination. For example when I traveled to Montpellier I first flied to Paris and took train from there because it was much cheaper than to fly to the Montpellier.

      2. Ask yourself what you can do. Or better write a list. Every stupid thing matters (maybe you can do magic tricks or something as absurd!) Make that your income. Depending on your skill there is many ways to do this. Make internet course or guidebook. Work as freelancer or find long time remote worker position.

      3. Find short time jobs around the world, for example as housekeeper in hotels or cruise ships.

      4. Travel and be passionate about it. I believe that if we really want anyone can do it. Of course my opinion can be wrong and I may return home after money has ended crying for my failure. That doesn’t pretend me from trying 🙂

By the way do you have a blog or social media account you want me to link to that post I will write about your question? 🙂 Thank you once again for this idea and I hope my (not so clear) ideas were somehow helpful.

      1. Well thank you for sharing all that. It kinda helps me but still there are things that I don’t get but oh well, let them be.
Oh and this is my blog, plus I am on twitter too @Exala_
Thank you again and do let me know about your post on Tuesday 🙂

  2. Wow, the secret life of Finnish folk in the summer sounds interesting! I’d like to find out about the secret life of Swedes because I never see many people around in my city! Lol! I’m going to Stockholm in July. Any tips of what to do there other than Gamla Stan would be appreciated. Would also be great to hear from a Scandinavian how cultures in Finland and Sweden differ from each other! Thanks for the post 🙂

    1. Hi! Thanks for the good ideas 🙂

I’m going to write about the secret Finnish life in the end of this month (if the summer hasn’t ended… It was snowing in the Lapland last week!) I think Swedes and Finns spend their summer in similar ways (or not? I’m not sure)

After I come back from Sweden I will write about my trip and post about things to do if you have only one day in Stockholm. The city has good website for tourists so you should check it out 🙂 http://www.visitstockholm.com/en/

The difference between Scandinavian cultures post is a little bit harder to do because I don’t know enough of the Swedish culture to compare them 😦 Maybe someday I will find Swedish person who wants to do collaboration post about that theme.

      Thank you for commenting 🙂

      1. Oh yes, of course! Maybe there’ll be some differences that hit you straight away when you’re in Stockholm. I will do some snooping around in Stockholm too and see if I can discover any well hidden secrets :-p – have fun on all your travels, sounds amazing and I look forward to reading more 🙂

  3. Great plans Neidotta! I too would like to visit Gdansk and the cheap flights from Turku are really tempting. We have no trips planned as of now but let’s see as the summer progresses. Oh, except sailing in Estonia!

    1. Well Estonia is definitely good place to travel too! I have been looking the Gdansk tickets for some time now and I think I can’t resist the temptation anymore. Thanks for commenting 🙂

  4. We are going to Hong Kong for our Dragon Boat Festival holiday from work next week! We are super excited. We live in Taiwan so it’s a less than 2 hour flight from here.
